Introduction
In New Delhi on 8 and 9 February 2010, a range of stakeholders involved in the renewable energy sector in India met at a conference to discuss challenges and opportunities related to local sustainable energy projects. Over 100 delegates attended over the two days from large corporations, government ministries, energy enterprises, financial institutions and NGOs.
What came out of the event was a clear need to facilitate financing of sustainable energy enterprises to help them scale up and replicate, and for policies that create an enabling environment for growth. To make this happen, better communication and partnerships between practitioners, government ministries and financial institutions is required.
